DREAMWIDTH FRIENDING MEME

Heyo!

So after a few plurk discussions, the want to start journaling again a la Livejounal came up a few different places, and this idea was born!

We ask if you participate, that you attempt to post 1-3 time a week, and comment as much as possible to help jump start personal journaling here on dreamwidth. And if you use your journal already (or if you start from here) we'd love a link back to this meme! The more the merrier!

You can also follow this community for both daily writing prompts and a monthly friending meme!

To participate, copy and paste this in a comment, fill it out, and go make some friends!

YOU
Name| meru
Age| 26
Other platforms| [plurk.com profile] Merururu
Fandoms| Voltron, horror games, just got into Killing Stalking, Disney, animation in general, too many podcasts, NieR, Baccano!, visual novels, Jurassic Park, IDK anymore
Interest| Norwegian, tattoos, other body mods, tiny homes, dinosaurs, I love things that can be cute and creepy at the same time, rats
Speed Bio| I've been in and out of school my whole post-high school life. I used to be a dog bather, now I'm a food line worker at a local uni I could never afford to attend. I have tons of trivia! I watch terrible movies for fun. I'm trying to get back into my fandom/RP ways. I mean I write fanfics and I'm trying to build my confidence in drawing. I drink too much tea and sometimes wine. I have pet rats.

YOUR JOURNAL
What do you post| Things on my mind. No one follows my journal so can't tell you exactly how it will change
Posting habits| I go months between posts. Back on LJ it was a few posts a week or maybe daily. Who knows?
Warnings| It looks like I've mentioned depression already.
Looking for| fandom friends, anyone interested?
Deal breakers| tumblr brand purity wank, anti-shippers, getting upset at people for liking things - I don't want that kind of negativity it's all so exhausting

Tell us any interesting thing about you! I used to believe that it was impossible for TV characters to lie.
Anything else?

I don't think we have a ton of fandom overlap, but you sound like a cool person.

I love animation, and I've been thinking of getting to talk with more people about it!

Also cute and creepy things are the best.

Is there any type of animation you're been interested in recently? Short films, animation from particular eras?

At the moment? I've been looking a lot at 1980s anime. Everything just seems so huge and ambitious (although I've just been watching mecha so that's probably sample bias). Plus I love all the shaky zoom and stilted voice acting. There's something about the more realistic character designs I find super appealing too.

And there's this scene from Robotech. I could watch the full scene all day. And the part where he pulls her into the cockpit and they experience a moment of weightlessness. So good.

It's the mix of realism and camp that feels so genuine, and sometimes that's the kind of thing I need.

Recently I've been on a roll with Russian animation. It's also a mix of realism and over-the-top acting that I find nostalgic - maybe I should post about the next one I watch.

Not a ton of fandoms but definitely some, and quite a few interests in common too. Wanna be new friends!?

Which podcasts are you into at the moment? I'm currently into a variety of them including fictional and nonfictional ones.

I used to be really into Welcome to Night Vale but I guess I lost interest. I'm still very fond of those early episodes though.

The Black Tapes S2 I enjoyed though I do admit to preferring their other show Tanis a lot more. I also love Ars Paradoxica and The Bright Sessions a whole lot. Kings Fall AM is also pretty fun.

I still listen to Night Vale and then there's also their other show, Alice Isn't Dead, which was pretty awesome.

I also love Saga and Myths and Legends for some of the better mythology/folklore podcasts.
