Weekly Prompt Post: The Beginning

Here's the weekly prompt post - something to get you kickstarted if you're staring at a blank screen and not sure what to write. If you want to submit something to be added to the list of weekly prompts then go ahead and shoot me a PM and I will get it added.

If you use the prompt, leave us a link in the comments!

Friending Meme 2017

DREAMWIDTH FRIENDING MEME

Heyo!

So after a few plurk discussions, the want to start journaling again a la Livejounal came up a few different places, and this idea was born!

We ask if you participate, that you attempt to post 1-3 time a week, and comment as much as possible to help jump start personal journaling here on dreamwidth. And if you use your journal already (or if you start from here) we'd love a link back to this meme! The more the merrier!

You can also follow this community for both daily writing prompts and a monthly friending meme!

To participate, copy and paste this in a comment, fill it out, and go make some friends!

Bootstrapping my way across the setting

So far I don't feel like I've been as active here as I really want to be - part of that is due to some real life stuff (roomie had some rather major outpatient surgery and work's been interesting) and part of it's probably due to my anxiety issues.

Anyways I'm at 58,415 toward 80,000 and still trucking along. There's still a lot of parts that I know I am going to need work on but that can come with pass number two at this thing. I need just to get all the major scenes and skeleton out in this pass.

So! How is everyone else doing? Is there something I can help with? Cheerleading or willing ear?

I know we're all working on various things and it's good to have a break every now and then. So if you want, tell us what you're working on besides the other project that led you here?

November!

It's finally November and there's a rush I get whenever this month hits. It's been good to me in the past and I'm hoping the trend will continue.

So right now I've got a document total of 47479, and 1902 of those words are new as far as today. And it's still kind of all over the place when it comes to the timeline, but it's Nov 1st and that's okay, I have this month and the first 15 days of December to work on filling in all the gaps.

Still not certain about where book one will end or how some of it needs to be organized, but I keep telling myself that I'm just trying to get everything down first and then go back and do the rewrites.

So hopefully everyone else is doing okay on their projects as well, though if you're stuck or blocked, throw us a line in the comments, and we'll see if there's something that we can help with.

Week 1.5

SO I meant to put this up over this past weekend and then Real Life Happened in a big way so I wasn't able to do that. Anyways, here it is. Better late than never?

So basically this is a free for all post for any kinds of venting/questions/progress reports/shiny new distractions that you want to stick in the comments.

I will tell you all that I'm still being totally consumed by Hamilton as for the music and since my schedule has been dramatically reshuffled since I'm taking a lot more of the household and driving duties on since my housemate is incapacitated - i've been learning a lot about how to organize my time and my priorities.

I use HabitRPG for a lot of my accountability stuff and keeping my lists. Because if there are stakes, my internal hypercompetitive asshole side keeps me honest for what I need to do (losing HP sucks, especially when it's because I didn't pick up the socks) and when I have a bad body day, there's an option for resting in the end and not losing HP if I need to take a break.

In the last week, I've been good about writing for 10 minutes on my lunch break and then writing/worldbuilding for an hour or more when I'm home. So far I'm more or less on track for hitting my goal - there's been a lot of stuff shifting itself loose and falling into pieces that either I know where they fit or I have it tagged for poking at further.

So how is everyone else doing? Need a boost? Someone to bounce a thing off of? My AIM is ParadoxTheWriter and gmail is butterflyparadox@gmail.com if you want to hit me up.

Welcome!

This is Not The Droids, a writing comm that is not-Nano but like Nano without all the crazy of November.

I am ze mod who is working on a project from October to December 15th to give you an idea of project scope and timeline. I am shooting for minimum 80K and a finished draft of the novel.

So for this first post, go ahead and introduce yourself and your projects.
